Spring cleaning shouldn’t just apply to your home! Cold weather is winding down, and it’s time to put away your gloves and ice scrapers. Get your vehicle in tip-top shape this spring with our car care tips.
We recommend the following services:
Wash & Wax
Thoroughly clean your vehicle, inside and out. Winter often brings a buildup of salt, grime and dirt on the exterior, which can affect its paint and finish. Thorough cleaning will prevent rust or other problems. Additionally, it’s a good idea to periodically vacuum your carpet and seats as well as get rid of extra dust in the vehicle’s interior.
Check Tire Pressure
Tire pressure tends to decrease with cold weather and rise with warm weather. While you might’ve needed extra air during the winter, it’s important to check that your pressure is on point for the spring. Your tire pressure should match the manufacturer specifications to ensure great drivability and fuel economy.
Inspect Wiper Blades
With spring comes spring showers. Make sure your wiper blades are working properly before you’re stuck in a storm.
Look Under the Hood
Now is the perfect time to check that your car’s engine is still in great working order and that belts and hoses haven’t been damaged by the cold winter weather. If you’re unsure of what to look for, stop by and see us!

The holidays are coming up, and it’s the perfect time to get your vehicle ready for those long, holiday road trips. From up-to-date maintenance to emergency kits, you should be prepared for whatever the road brings you.
First, make sure that your car, truck or SUV is properly maintained. Top off your fluids and make sure that your windshield wipers and car lights are working. Be sure to also check that your tires are properly filled and your brakes are working properly.
After checking that your car is in tip-top shape, it’s a good idea to map out your route. Take into account what areas you will be traveling through and note where the best places to stop for rest or fuel are. Be sure to also have roadside assistance contact information ready in case of an emergency.
Finally, be prepared! Pack an emergency kit with jumper cables, basic tools, flares, a cell phone charger, drinking water, a flashlight and first aid items. Don’t forget to also pack anything that might make the long ride more enjoyable — blankets, pillows, snacks, and car-friendly games for passengers.

Summer is in full swing, and in Kansas, that means extreme heat. It’s important to make sure your vehicle is properly maintained and prepared for the summer season.
Here are a few things you can do:
- Check your cooling system. The biggest cause for summer breakdowns is overheating, so be sure to consistently monitor your temperature gauge. Be sure to also check your coolant level and concentration and get belts, clamps and hoses inspected by a professional.
- Check your tires. Make sure that all tires are properly inflated and have good tread depth. Remember to always have a spare tire in case you get an unexpected flat during a summer road trip.
- Check your air conditioner. A good air conditioning system is essential for summer in Kansas. If you notice your system isn’t working well, be sure to check for leaks and choose the right kind of refrigerant for your vehicle.
- Pack an emergency kit. While you won’t need ice scrapers and road salt in the summer, it’s important to still keep a few emergency items in your vehicle. A first aid kit, flares, flashlights, and water are a few essential summer items.
The weather is warming up, and you can finally put away your ice scrapers and extra gloves. It’s the perfect time to do a little spring maintenance and get your car ready for the new season!
Here are a few car care tips we recommend:
- Check your owner’s manual and follow the recommended service schedules. It may be time to change the oil or check the battery and cables.
- Wash and wax. Winter brings extra dirt, grime and salt buildup, and a thorough wash after winter can do wonders.
- Check your tire pressure. As the weather warms up, tire pressure can increase. Make sure your tires meet the manufacturer specification.
- Inspect all lights and your wiper blades. Spring often brings more rainfall, so you’ll want to make sure both are in good working order.
- Check your car’s alignment and suspension. Winter can be harsh on vehicles, so a quick check is always a good idea.

The winter months are here, and we all know Kansas weather can be unpredictable. Be sure to stay on top of your vehicle’s maintenance and keep a few supplies handy to prepare for winter driving.
It’s always important to make sure that your vehicle’s maintenance is up-to-date. Small problems can lead to bigger problems, and the last thing you’d want is to be stranded in the cold, winter weather. Remember to check the following:
Battery — It’s more difficult for batteries to operate in cool weather, so be sure yours is working well. If you notice your engine is sluggish when starting, the check engine light is on, there’s corrosion around the cable connections, or the battery is at least three years old, you may need service.
Coolant — Coolant, or antifreeze, keeps your engine from freezing in cold temperatures, so it’s important to make sure it doesn’t get too low. Check your coolant reservoir and see that it reaches the “full” line. Also, be sure to check your owner’s manual to find out the proper coolant type for your vehicle.
Tires — Tire pressure can drop along with air temperature, so regularly check that yours are appropriately filled. Also, check your tire tread to make sure you’ll have good traction on cold pavement and snowy or icy roads.
In addition, keep a survival kit in case of an emergency. We recommend an ice scraper, extra gloves, blankets, flares, sand or kitty litter, tire chains, a flashlight, jumper cables, cell phone, cell phone charger, snacks and water.

Going back to college this month? Make sure your car is in tip-top shape with our back-to-school car maintenance tips!
First, take care of your basic car maintenance. Make sure that your tires have been rotated, your oil has been recently changed, check your fluid levels, and replace old windshield wipers.
In addition, every car has a recommended maintenance schedule. Be sure to check your owner’s manual and follow the manufacturer recommendations. This maintenance typically requires checking or replacing parts like timing belts or spark plugs. If your vehicle is older, other major parts may be recommended for replacement in order to keep your car running safely and smoothly.
If your vehicle consistently has a warning light on, be sure to get that checked out. The last thing you’d want is for something bad to happen or for it to lead to a costly repair later down the line.
Finally, stay prepared! Make sure your car has basic safety needs, including a flashlight, jumper cables, an ice scraper, gloves, bottled water, or even a pre-packaged auto safety kit.
