The Toyota Concept-i was unveiled in January at the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show. It showcased artificial intelligence and hinted at the future of self-driving vehicles. Now, Toyota is building on that and designed two new concepts, the Concept-i Ride and Concept-i Walk.
The Toyota Concept-i Ride is designed to make life easier for the handicapped. According to CNET, Toyota Concept-i Ride features “gull-wing doors (to) provide loads of space for easy ingress and egress, and there’s a space behind the single seat for wheelchair storage.” The vehicle is also controlled with joysticks rather than pedals.
In addition, Toyota also created the Concept-i Walk. According to CNET, the Concept-i Walk is a scooter “designed to work on sidewalks, rotating on a dime and occupying a space no larger than a standard human.” It is also controlled by a joystick, allowing users to pilot it.
These two new concepts are expected to be shown at the Tokyo Motor Show on October 25, so look out for more details! In the meantime, read about the original Concept-i here.
