There are only two races remaining to determine the Chase for the Sprint Cup field, and Clint Bowyer is clinging to the final spot! He currently holds a fairly comfortable 35-point lead over his closest opponent, but the Chase field will officially be set after the September 12 Sprint Cup race at Richmond International Raceway.

So far, Bowyer has done well in the Sprint Cup Series, placing in the top 10 in five of the last six races. His crew has also achieved success, with his crew chief Billy Scott winning his career-first MOOG(R) Steering and Suspension “Problem Solver of the Race” Award after Bowyer made a late charge to finish sixth in the Sprint Cup race at Watkins Glen International.

Next up for Bowyer is the Southern 500 on September 6. For this race, Bowyer revealed a tribute paint scheme on Instagram to NASCAR icon Buddy Baker, who recently passed away. According to NBC Sports, the car was hand-painted and is similar to the one “used on Baker’s car during the 1974 season.” Be sure to tune in, see the car for yourself and cheer on Bowyer on Sunday, September 6!
