In 2012, Clint Bowyer placed second in the Nascar Sprint Cup Series and prior to last season, he had finished in the top 10 five different times. Last season, though, he uncharacteristically finished in 19th place driving the No. 15 Toyota for MWR. He failed to make the Chase, which was a wake-up call.
But Bowyer believes the 2015 Nascar season will be different for one important reason— he’s a new father to 4-month-old son Cash. Regarding fatherhood he says, “Your focus is all on simple things. Your life isn’t as complex as it once was. You don’t have time to pick your head up and take in all the rest of it. You stay focused on your family and your child and racing. It really does simplify your life quite a bit because you’re not drawn to so many distractions.”
MWR will need Bowyer to channel this new focus for the 2015 season. According to team co-owner, Michael Waltrip, there is still some ad inventory that needs to be sold on Bowyer’s car. So, there’s the pressure of needing to perform well to satisfy current and potential clients. Bowyer understands the importance and says that it is crucial to get back to his winning ways.
With all of that pressure, it is the hope that Bowyer’s 4-month-old son will help bring him back and remain focused. Waltrip believes that this is working. He says, “He seems more fun and I know that’s crazy because he’s always been that guy, but you can just see it in his eyes. He’s a happy man. That’s why I’m so thankful that his energy for the team and where we’re at as an organization is where he is mentally. Because we need that fun Clint guy, and we got him, and I think his son is a big part of that.”
Be sure to cheer on Bowyer this season and don’t forget to check out our inventory.
